The DSC short course is designed to give a basic overview of DSC theory and TA Instruments technology. It discusses the calibrations required and the performance checks that can be made.

Starting points for the development of experimental methodologies and method optimisation will be discussed with respect to the sample, the pan selection and the method.

An overview of typical approaches for general sample types will be given with a more in-depth focus on the analysis of typical transitions.

The presentation is aimed at new and intermediate users looking to obtain a greater understanding of the instrument technology, method optimisation and data analysis. It would also be useful for people interested in finding out what sort of information can be obtained from DSC.

The MDSC short course is designed to give a basic overview of MDSC theory and intends to explain when and why to use MDSC technology. It discusses the calibrations required. Starting points for the development of experimental methodologies and method optimisation will be discussed with respect to the sample, and the various modulation parameters.

An overview of typical approaches for general sample types will be given with a more in-depth focus on the analysis of typical transitions, e.g. glass transition, melting region, heat capacity studies.

The presentation is aimed at new and intermediate users looking to obtain a greater understanding of the MDSC technology, method optimisation and data analysis. It would also be useful for people interested in finding out what additional information can be obtained from MDSC in comparison with standard DSC.
