ESS is a privately held company that designs and manufactures innovative non-contact optical thermal analysis instrumentation. TA Instruments Acquires LaserComp

New Castle, Delaware, USA. January 30, 2014 – TA Instruments today announced the acquisition of LaserComp (Saugus, MA). LaserComp, a privately held company, is an industry-leading manufacturer of thermal conductivity test instruments.

LaserComp heat flow meters and guarded hot plate systems are capable of measuring thermal conductivity on a wide range of samples, over a broad temperature range. They are routinely used to perform tests that meet many ASTM, ISO, and EN standards in laboratory and production environments.

Dr. Cécile Monteux Receives the Distinguished Young Rheologist Award from TA Instruments

December 17, 2013 – Dr. Cécile Monteux of Ecole Supérieure de Physique Chimie Industrielle de la Ville de Paris (ESPCI) is the most recent recipient of the Distinguished Young Rheologist award presented by TA Instruments. Dr. Monteux is a CNRS researcher whose work is focused on the dynamics of liquid interfaces. This includes dynamic wetting and interfacial rheology as related to foam, emulsion or capsule stability and the dynamics of amphiphiles at fluid interfaces.

Established in January, 2012 the Distinguished Young Rheologist award is designed to help accelerate the research of new academics through grants of rheometer equipment. Recipients of the award are nominated by a group of the most established and respected academic researchers in the field of rheology. TA Instruments Acquires Scarabaeus Mess- und Produktionstechnik GmbH

New Castle, Delaware, USA. September 30, 2013 – TA Instruments today announced the acquisition of Scarabaeus Mess- und Produktionstechnik GmbH (Wetzlar, Germany), a privately held manufacturer of instrumentation and software for physical property measurements of rubber and rubber processing.

TA Instruments grants Dr. Randy Ewoldt with the “Distinguished Young Rheologist” Award

Ewoldt, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Ewoldt and his group study rheology with a combination of experiment, theory, and an eye toward design based on rheological behavior. Specific materials of interest include polymer gels, yield stress fluids, and suspensions of actively-swimming particles. The research includes development of new rheometry methods that are material-agnostic and therefore applicable to all rheologically-complex materials. Dr. Ewoldt has been an early leader in the fast-growing field of Large Amplitude Oscillatory Shear (LAOS) experiments and has contributed greatly to the understanding of these new measurements.

TA Instruments announces more “Distinguished Young Rheologist” Award recipients

New Castle, Delaware, USA. December 03, 2012 -TA Instruments has presented the Distinguished Young Rheologist Award to two scientists: Dr. Anson W. K. Ma, of the University of Connecticut, and Dr. Ali Mohraz, of the University of California, Irvine.

The Award cited Dr. Ma’s current work on interfacial rheology of nanoparticle-laden interfaces for stabilizing emulsions, and flow dynamics of nanoparticles in simulated blood flows for cancer treatment.
